Porsche Cup Brands Hatch 15/09/2006

Purdie ready for home races in Carrera Cup GB

Andy Purdie will race on home ground at Brands Hatch in Paragon Porsche entry in rounds 17 and 18 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB over the weekend of 23/24 September.

The Maidstone-based driver is racing the Paragon Porsche-entered 911GT3 Cup in the high-profile championship that runs as a major support race to the British Touring Car Championship and will now return to his local track for the penultimate race weekend of the 2006 season.

“I can’t wait to go back to Brands,” he says. “It’s where we started the season and I can see how far off the leading pro drivers I now am.” Purdie has certainly made good progress through the season and now returns to Brands, where the campaign began back in April. “I’ve definitely come on since then,” he says. “I’m still learning how to set the car up. If I was doing something where I was always going to win, I wouldn’t enjoy it. That’s what pushes me.”

Making it possible this season has been the support of his father George, Mark Sumpter’s Paragon Porsche set-up and team boss Roger Heavens at RH Motorsport. With years of high-level experience, Heavens has done a fine job in tending to Purdie’s car.

The Carrera Cup pack has a 34-lap race on each day at Brands and Sunday's race will be broadcast live on Motors TV during the British Touring Car Championship coverage. The race is due to start at 4.30pm.
