Porsche Cup Knockhill 02/09/2006

Knockhill next for Purdie

Another new track is next on the schedule for Andy Purdie and the Paragon Porsche entry during rounds 15 and 16 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB over the weekend of 2/3 September.

The Maidstone-based driver is racing the Paragon Porsche-entered 911GT3 Cup in the high-profile championship that runs as a major support race to the British Touring Car Championship and will now challenge for more podium results at the challenging Knockhill track near Dunfermline in Fife.

The unique moorland track is the only race circuit in Scotland and is renowned for having constantly variable weather due to its relatively high altitude. "I've never been to Knockhill before, so that's another challenge," says Andy, who is currently battling for third place in the pro-am category.

Despite missing four races earlier in the year while finishing his university exams, Andy is one of five drivers covered by just 26 points in the pro-am category. He has already claimed three podium finishes this year and is aiming for more at the Scottish track. However, he will start the race weekend learning about this short but difficult track.

The Carrera Cup pack has a 32-lap race on each day at Knockhill and Sunday's race will be broadcast live on Motors TV during the British Touring Car Championship coverage. The race is due to start at 4.30pm.
