Privelige Insurance Britsh GT Championship for Sumpter and Balfe
Mark Sumpter was to join Shaun Balfe for 2001 racing the Paragon prepared Porsche 911 GT3RS. Competing in the Privelige British GT Championship part of the Power Tour series, the pair of experienced drivers soon proved to be highly competitive winning the first round at Silverstone.
The season proved to be very challenging for the duo with some frustrating punctures and safety car misfortunes, however being consitant ment that the Paragon car was the only car in the series to score valuable championship points in everyrace with the team finishing third overall.
Pete Chambers was to star in the Michelin Porsche cup in the Paragon backed Porsche 911 GT3 cup car. This was to be the series debut on the innovative PowerTour British Motorsport Series. The races also marked the first appearance in the championship of the Porsche 911GT3 Cup cars, normally seen racing across Europe as supporting races at Formula 1 Grand Prix.
With a strong field of cars the season proved to be fiercly competitive with some memorable battles between Chambers, Adrian Slater and Nigel Rice. However with a relaible competitive point scoring car Chambers clinched the title in the penultimate race at Brands Hatch.
